Yes, I am referencing the opening line to the 2000 song Absolutely (Story of a Girl) by Nine Days, because for some reason it popped into my head. Plus, it makes me feel old because that song is 13 years old.
I know, this isn't the usual blog for me but something unusual happened to me on Friday night and to use the now-popular Internet catch phrase, things escalated quickly. The first part of this was written Sunday night and the last part was written soon before I decided to post this.
On Friday night I was in a movie theatre watching Jurassic Park 3D. That was a great experience as I enjoyed the movie when I saw it on the big screen 20 years ago and thankfully it still holds up well today. While watching it, though, I noticed that there was a little ache in my tooth. I've had it happen before (always during the weekend so I have to wait until Monday to see the dentist) and eventually it went away before I had the opportunity to go to the dentist. Saturday night it hurt more but I still wasn't worried yet. I would just visit the dentist Monday morning for an unscheduled visit. Today, the pain was still there and now, there began swelling. I tried not to worry about it but now, yeah I am starting to worry. I have never had anything like this happen to me before. I imagine I won't get a great night's sleep tonight; then again I could say the same thing about Friday and Saturday night.
Alright, so now I am writing this Monday afternoon. I did indeed make the trip to the dentist's office as soon as I could, so it was in the middle of the morning. They took a look at it and figured what I did after looking online last night, which was that somehow the tooth got infected and yeah, a root canal is real likely in my near future. You can probably figure out how thrilled I am about having such a procedure done, but I suppose if that's the only way to fix it... I was referred to an Asian dental specialist, but not the same Asian dental specialist whom I had to visit in late 2010 to have a tooth pulled. I would have seen him today but he was out of the office so I'll be seeing him tomorrow afternoon. Once I meet him I'll know what will happen next. It may get fluid drained out of it, or maybe the dental surgery would happen ASAP, I do not know yet.
In the meanwhile, I was given a pair of prescriptions, which I got as soon as I was able to. I got some Penicillin to curb the swelling (it has already worked) and I was given a pain medication, hydrocodone. Thankfully that was pretty cheap and the Penicillin was free. It has already worked and it is not as swollen as it was, although it is still sore. That is a relief, the swelling going down. That was what had me panicked the most Sunday night through Monday morning. Once I got back from getting those pills, I watched TV for a bit before napping for a few hours, and once I woke up I've been bumming around online.
I'll be back tomorrow night to talk about what happened with me meeting that specialist and I'll also recap what I did in the past week aside from the tooth issues.
