The Hulkster, Rigoberto Uran Uran & Testicular Torsion

If you're wondering how I came up with such a title, I discovered that Rigoberto is a Colombian cyclist who is in this year's Tour de France, meaning that he's likely cheating by doping. Even then, his name makes me laugh and laugh and of course I think of Duran Duran. Don't worry, I did not experience such problems with my reproductive system but wait until you hear the amazing way I heard that medical phenomenon being discussed in public. As for Hulk Hogan... I am still massively disappointed to hear he made such comments and he has such views.

Last Monday, I went out and about for a bit. I had a place to visit, which I won't divulge as it's a private matter. I then went to the Altamonte Mall, where I walked around for a bit and checked out a few stores. The traffic there and back was brutal, to the point that I almost did not make it to my destination in time. That was an even bigger issue later this week. Tuesday and Wednesday I did not do anything; I'll be honest and say that was because I wasn't feeling so good. Part of it was physical and being tired, but the rest of it was mental. I was not “feeling myself”, as the cool kids say. I don't want anyone to worry about me; it's nothing serious. I was just thinking negatively and some of the mistakes I've made in the past. I am feeling a little better now, at least.

Thursday, I finally did something. I had to pick up a parent from the airport; it was the same one I dropped off the previous Thursday. It was not at the giant Orlando International Airport but instead the smaller Orlando Sanford Airport. I finally made it up to the PDQ restaurant they opened in Sanford earlier this summer. I've highly praised that restaurant many times by now. I just wish that they had a location closer to where I live, as both Sanford and Lakeland are far drives for me, and I think their food is great. I was happy to have a late dinner there. I then went to a nearby Hooters to kill time... and have a tasty beverage. I then stopped at a 7-11 by the airport to use the men's room & get a bottle of water for the parent, and I had an incredible experience there, one of those moments I swear could only happen to me.

I was waiting in line to pay and some people were talking about their bad days they had; this included the young white trash cashier (I believe named Mike) and a woman who works there but was not on the clock... she was there making a purchase too. As I started to pay, Mike told the woman and everyone else there... he said that this day was bad for him because he was having problems with his balls! I swear this is true. He then went into detail about why he thought he had testicular torsion. That's a real-life issue but if he actually did have that, it's a serious condition and if he didn't get it fixed by Friday afternoon he would only have a single instead of a pair. I think he had a minor issue with his testes but I am still flabbergasted I heard such a thing out loud and that was the first time I heard the term “nutsack” in a public setting like that.

I then picked up the parent and drove home.

Friday, I had to go out again to a place where I had to be there at a certain time. It was raining out so I made sure to leave early as I thought that way I'd have no issues. Oh no! I was on the 408 (a toll road going through the middle of Orlando) and just passed an exit when suddenly traffic stopped. I was not happy, as I knew that some idiots crashed their cars and once I was finally able to drive by after the cars in front of me narrowed down to one lane, that's exactly what it was. It was not a serious crash with fatalities, so I am not being callous in my bashing of those people. I had to call that place to tell them I was late and I ended up having no issue there with coming in at a different time, but Friday was a bad day. After that place I went to a few more, including the Rocket Fizz soda shop in Winter Park. More than one location I had to deal with stupid people, from those that got in the wreck to other things I won't talk about here. Just a bad day all around.

Partially because of Friday I was happy to stay in both Saturday and Sunday. The fact that it rained both days only solidified my opinion that I did the right thing. When I return a week from today, I have a few ideas in mind when it comes to me going out and about, so everyone has that to look forward to.

The One Time I Did Not Have Much To Say

Here's what I've done in the past week. I had a very quiet past 7 days; that's just how things turned out. Monday, after dinner I went to the nearest Barnes & Noble then the nearby Trader Joe's. Except for my time at Joe's (where I purchased some food & drink) it was a miserable experience. I had a rotten customer experience at B&N so I did not purchase anything there. And then there was the absolutely brutal traffic-even worse than usual for this area. That day was just bad. At least Tuesday was better, in that I didn't do anything at all.

Wednesday, all I did was go out to dinner with someone; it was at a Florida-only chain known as Gator's Dockside, which I have been at a decent amount of times since I've lived in this state. Their food is decent so we were fine eating there. Thursday, I had to make another airport run. The night before, we suddenly discovered that the time of the flight had changed, now leaving an hour and a half later. Of course this low-rent move (which I presume happened recently and wasn't the cast for long) was done by a cheap rinky-dink airline that unfortunately my parents have to use as there's no other easy option for them to fly back to the old home area in Illinois. It didn't affect me too much, but imagine all those people it did impact... what a crappy operation.

Thursday, I dropped off that parent at the airport and while the traffic was as bad as expected, it otherwise was an uneventful trip where I also went to a MovieStop, where I purchased a few items, and I got a sandwich from one of the many Wawa stores that are now in the central part of Florida.

Friday through Sunday, I thought of doing various things but due to the rainy weather, me being exhausted from not getting a good night's sleep for more than one night in a row, and other factors I laid real low and the only things I did of note was get a tank of gas and get a pizza from Pizza Hut. I know, I am old and lame... although “old and wise” may work too as I saved time & money and whatever I may have planned may have gone awry; with my luck as of late that wouldn't have been so surprising to me.

The reason why I am posting this a little later than usual is that I had to go out and about this afternoon. When I return a week from today, I will give some details about that & I'll try harder to have a more interesting week to write about.

Dr. Pepper Vanilla Float, The Great Movie Ride & More Melancholy Feelings

This was another week for me where things were rather boring for the most part... but I am old and lame (or at least I feel that way) now so I am OK with that. What I am not OK with... yet another person I know from my past has passed away. Something like that happened just recently and I did not want it to happen again so soon. It was another person who was in my same high school class and it was someone I chatted with before. I am saddened by it and it's a sobering reminder that while my life isn't always how I expected it to turn out, I have no room to complain.

Last Monday I thought about doing something interesting; I ended up changing my mind so the only thing I did was go to Target, where I saw that Dr. Pepper Vanilla Float had returned for this summer so I purchased a 12 pack. I then went to Culver's for a tasty dinner. Tuesday I didn't do anything but Wednesday I went with someone to Steak 'n Shake for dinner. They always make nice inexpensive food and now they have a limited edition Nutella shake, which of course I got and of course I enjoyed.

Thursday, that was finally an interesting day. I was able to return to Walt Disney World, which was nice. I went to the Hollywood Studios. While the drive there and back was stressful (mainly due to it being rainy weather) and some of my fellow guests there at the Studios could be best described as “humanoids”, my time there was nice. I went on some rides I hadn't been on in awhile, and that includes The Great Movie Ride, now with a new queue and occasional narration by TCM host Robert Osborne but otherwise still the same wacky attraction with animatronics and various movie scenes/genres re-created.

Friday I relaxed and Saturday I thought about doing something but I ended up staying in also. Several things popped in mind... I was just too tired and besides, the big event of the evening was the latest UFC pay per view and for several reasons I decided not to watch it. Fighters still train way too hard and too long before their fights so injuries happen way too often and it happened again here as the heavily hyped main event was postpone and a lesser main event was booked instead. Maybe it was because of that and maybe they just won't do them anything but in the entire state of Florida only a few movie theatres are showing the event. That stopping would be unfortunate for me as I enjoyed going to them. Then there's the UFC shooting themselves in the foot often in the past few years... and now Reebok is an exclusive sponsor with rumors of most fighters getting less money and now all the fighter tights/trunks are ultra-generic and that is extraordinarily stupid and the antithesis of what should happen in a one on one only sport... I am OK with not seeing UFC for awhile as their actions warrant such a response from me.

That said, I heard that the pay per view portion was worthy of being seen by me but I'll track those fights down at a later time. Sunday was another day where I did nothing of note. That is OK as when I return a week from today I should have a more interesting week to recap.

Air Conditioning, Eating Like A Savage, & Not Your Father's Root Beer

I ended up having quite the eventful week overall. This past Monday I had to go to the Tampa Bay area; this was to pick up a parent from the St. Petersburg-Clearwater airport. Before that I could have done several different things but I decided to keep it simple and I just returned to the celebrity restaurant known as Hogan's Beach in Tampa to have dinner and watch TV. Well, as the parent flew on a cheap airline that uses old airplanes, there were issues with it so it arrived almost 2 hours late. It's OK as I spent more time there eating food, watching sports... and drinking several beverages also. I've never seen The Hulkster there but I swear that all the times I went to the restaurant, also present was The Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart, which always amuses me as a wrestling fan. I stayed inside and chilled but in hindsight I should have gone out to the outdoor bar; as I left I overheard someone stating that Hart was outside doing karaoke. I would have enjoyed that. I got cut off by a vehicle on the way there and had to slam on my brakes... so it was another day on the road in Florida.

Tuesday I didn't do anything but on Wednesday, it was the birthday of a parent so we agreed to go to the oft mentioned by me Hurricane Grill & Wings, as we all enjoy the food. The same was true with this trip there. The day was going fine, then... at around midnight I noticed that the air conditioning wasn't working. What a pickle of a situation to have in Florida in July. Needless to say I did not get a good night's sleep.

I won't divulge my living situation as that's private information but I live with other people. In the morning someone was called to fix that, and out came a large black man. He knew right away that the capacitor (no, not a flux capacitor) had gone bad so he was able to replace it and things appeared fine as he left... only about an hour later, the entire thermostat went out. No one was happy. Someone else came out to fix that, and turns out that the first guy screwed something up.

At first I wasn't pleased with the first dude but then I realized what he had to do may be some complicated crap, so I cooled off. Besides, he came in and asked me if I had any “Soul Pop”. Maybe I misheard him... Soul Pop is funny so I'll go with that. He meant “strawberry soda”, which I did have, so that's what I gave him. I had to leave before the second guy came over, to attend to personal matters. That went fine so as I was in Orlando already I decided to return to the restaurant known as Friendly Confines for dinner. I think they make great food so I was happy to be there as the last time was a long while ago. Plus, they had a beverage available called Not Your Father's Root Beer, which is alcoholic root beer flavored beer from a company in Wisconsin. It was pretty good.

What wasn't good... I was sitting at the bar next to some random old woman pounding down drinks that were alcoholic and clear in color. I don't know if she was sitting by her son or not but out of nowhere she said something to me. She for some reason had a problem with the way I was eating my dinner! She claimed that I was “eating like a savage”. Not true, but despite not being in the mood for any crap on this day I just ignored her, as I was about ready to leave anyway. So yeah, what a crappy day Thursday was.

After that I did not want to do much else for today. Friday, all I did was go to Gamestop to look at something. The one item I purchased from there was a card to put more money on my Xbox account. At least I did not go out in the evening, where for a bit it was storming pretty bad. Also, one of the other people that live in the house made a mistake and the house almost burned down! I won't go into details but the house smelled of burning oil for a few hours. Saturday, the main highlights were watching some fireworks on television, I had an afternoon nap and for a little while I had an upset stomach. This was another evening where it rained for awhiile so I was happy to stay in. Sunday was a day where the highlight... me doing laundry.

When I return a week from today, I don't have much on the agenda yet but I am hoping it will be a less stressful week and there won't be any possibly senile old ladies flapping their gums at me.
