I know some local wrestling people would want me to bring it up but on Saturday night one of the people that was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame was Larry Zbyszko, the wrestler turned commentator who did those old WCW Nitro shows. He lives in Florida and for some reason is friends with some people I really don't care for. I still don't know how it happened as I doubt he ever read what I wrote about the local Florida wrestling scene back when I did that way back when, but someone told him about me and at a show I was at, he came out and the strange feeling I had came true, and he started talking about me! I couldn't even tell you what he said; I ended up leaving at that point as I was confused and had no clue what would happen next; for my personal safety I left. I had some strange moments in my life but this has to be the strangest, a famous wrestler angrily ranting and raving against me at a show I was at. I've never had any ill will towards Larry Z for what happened; like I said I question some of his friends and I'd love to know how such a thing was even allowed to happen at a show... I've never had a beef with Larry. With that out of the way:
Unfortunately this is another week that has been quiet for me aside from some moments; one night I did get pretty fired up, though. Monday I did not do a thing and the same goes for Wednesday. Tuesday, I went to Walmart to pick up a few items and that actually was a quiet affair as it was not busy there. About the only interesting thing I did was spend some time in some fantasy baseball drafts; I think I do alright in those. Some of them I do well in, and others not so well. At least I am not always awful. Thursday, though, that was a more interesting day.
Thursday, in the afternoon I mashed a finger against something and that sucked. Besides seeing the movie Run All Night (which was fine), I had dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. The movie started late as they were stupid and I actually had to go out and tell someone to turn off the lights and actually start showing the trailers. I was not happy about that. Then, I was real unhappy at the Buffalo Wild Wings when I went there for dinner. Now, the food there was tasty; I enjoyed the limited edition buttery maple flavor on the boneless wings I had. However, there were some dumb people around, including the staff. The lady who waited on me was cool and I had no beef with her. When no one working there is smart enough to know when the biggest sporting event of the night (the college basketball tournament starting up again with the Sweet 16) begins... incredible. I didn't say anything because I wanted to see when they figured it out; it took awhile but I was finally able to see the Wichita State vs. Notre Dame game. Of course Wichita State was getting its ass kicked and they ended up losing (I left before the first half ended).
Then, soon before I left the other game began (Wisconsin vs. North Carolina) and even though the setup there allows for several spots where you could watch both games at the same time-which plenty of people there would have wanted-but did they do it? No! It was impossible to see both games without constantly moving your head around like an idiot and I thought that was just stupid. That was a reason why I didn't stay there as long as I expected. I have gotten mad at that place before for a variety of reasons, but I eventually always came back. When I will return there... I have no idea.
Friday I did not do anything. Saturday the only thing I did was visit a busy Winter Garden Village, where I visited a few spots and I did make a purchase. Sunday, that was the day of watching Wrestlemania. I had zero expectations for the show. I only heard bad things about how the show was built up, and the main event featuring a good guy going against Brock Lesnar for the title... but many fans don't even like the good guy. Well, the show completely exceeded my expectations, between the matches and all the gaga that happened there. Some things happened that I wasn't too surprised about, but other things were genuine surprises and it's always nice to be surprised even if you follow the behind the scenes stuff of professional wrestling.
When I return a week from today, not a lot is on the agenda as of yet and I am not sure what I'll be talking about.

Overrated Movies, Selfie Sticks, Blueberry Pancakes & Dorita Swords
If you're wondering what a “Dorita Swords” even is, I'd like to know too; it was a sender of a spam e-mail I got a few days ago. Here's what I've done in the past week. Last Monday the 16th, soon after some people read my last blog post (and I am flattered they at least read that one, if that was the only one they've ever perused; I usually have no idea who even reads these) and concerning that wrestling show I tried going to... they said that I was either wrong or flat out lying about the time; I know what my watch said and that's all I'll say about it so that there isn't a never-ending argument.
Anyhow, in the evening I went to the AMC at Downtown Disney to see a film I've heard a lot about since it first came out: Kingsman: The Secret Service. I know that many love it, but I didn't. In fact I pretty much hated it. It was trying WAY too hard to be “cool” and it proved just grating to me. Also, if you are a dog lover, maybe you should give it pause before seeing it; what a “cheap heat” thing to do with that subplot. Really, I am not sure why so many love it; then again I didn't much care for the director's earlier film Kick-Ass either so maybe I should have known better.
Tuesday, the only thing I did for St. Patrick's Day was go to Winter Garden Village, where I visited a few random places and purchased some random items. I did wear a green shirt, by the way. Wednesday I did not do a thing, until I experienced laptop issues. I use AVG Antivirus and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to safeguard myself and they almost are always effective but something nasty ended up on there so I had to do more and I used RKill (which stops the bad stuff from working so it's a lot easier to delete it) then Adwcleaner and using those along with my two usual programs helped get rid of everything, but it got to the point where I had to use some command line prompts, so yeah it was not a fun Wednesday night fixing everything.
Thursday, I went with my mom and friend (that friend returns to Illinois today) to Cracker Barrel, and that was a tasty meal. I had the Maine Blueberry Pancakes and I highly recommend those. Friday, I went to Wawa to get sandwiches for me and and those two aforementioned people; we all enjoyed that food. Then, late at night I returned to the Enzian, where I had a cold one at their outdoor Eden Bar before seeing a midnight showing of an Australian horror/comedy involving “zombies” (although it's more like the “zombies” in Planet Terror) called Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead. It was about average but it has many who love it more than I do. It has its moments and it is funny, but again it's a film trying way too hard to be cool, and in this case it tries too hard to be “a cult hit” when cult hits from the past just happened and it wasn't forced. At least the audience experience this time was better than my last two times there, but on the way back I encountered what had to be drunk drivers; more than once a car cut me off and I had to slam on my brakes. I was glad when I finally made it home.
Saturday, everyone decided to go to Chili's, so that's where we went. It was exactly what you'd expect at that restaurant, meaning it wasn't great but it wasn't awful either. The real highlight there: seeing someone at another table using a selfie stick! I have no opinion on those devices, besides acknowledging that they're wacky. As for my NCAA Tournament bracket, I never do well in them and this year it seemed especially bad. Did I ever get a lot wrong. Sunday, I relaxed and I am OK with that. When I return a week from today, I know that on the 29th I'll be watching Wrestlemania on the WWE Network and that will be a show I am expecting to actually be pretty bad, but I am curious as to how bad it is so I am going to check it out. I am definitely not a regular WWE watcher and I haven't been for YEARS but it is still sad (and I am basing this off of hearsay) how awful they apparently are now.

That One Time I Caused Controversy... Once Again
I will have to do something different this time; I will talk about what I did on Saturday and how I know some people will probably not be happy with what I did, but I'll explain my actions now. After that I'll return to talking about my week in chronological order.
Saturday the 14th, I was actually thinking of something I almost never do anymore: attend a local independent pro wrestling show. I won't get into the reasons why I slowed down going to them a few years ago and then just stopped entirely, but I doubt I'll ever make those reasons public. I had the itch to go to another one and there was a show in Orlando on this day which had a nice card. Now, UFC had a pay per view and the PPV portion also had a nice card but I was willing to make that sacrifice to see some local grappling. Well... I went there even if it's a building I've been to often as many promotions have had shows there and I've stated numerous times before how that building is on the outskirts of the ghetto and you have to drive through the ghetto to get there. Besides there not being that many parking spaces, I am always worried about my vehicle being broken into; I am just thankful it has never happened.
I wanted to get there before the doors were supposed to open due to the parking issue. I expected the doors not to open on time at 7:30 as unfortunately, most of the local wrestling shows I attended in the past did not open on time or start on time. Back then I thought that trope was amusing. Now, being older and more mature, I am much less willing to put up with such things. Now, I don't know if the ring got there late, if the building caused problems or what, but doors were supposed to open at 7:30. 7:45, doors are still closed and I had to be around some horrible human beings who fit all the bad stereotypes of pro wrestling fans, and I just got fed up with it and I wasn't going to stand there for who knows how long just waiting to get in because they can't get their crap together, so I left and did other things.
I realize some people I know will be quite angry with me for making this decision, and I am sorry they'll feel that way. But, how angry were those people who had to wait all that extra time standing in line? I don't regret what I did and who knows when I'll go to a show in the future. Instead, I tried out something new and I saw the UFC PPV on the big screen... in Lakeland at the Cinemark, a place opened last year and I think is very nice and if it was closer I'd go there more often.
I made the drive to Lakeland on the notorious Interstate 4; for it being a Saturday evening the traffic wasn't that bad. I stopped at a Walmart in Lakeland and I got gas and picked up some items. I knew that the time and place would result in me seeing some incredible-looking people there but even I was taken aback by seeing such things as a woman with a hairstyle straight out of the 1960's; it was gigantic and I don't know if you'd call it a bouffant or something else, but it was amazing. I then drove over to see UFC and I wasn't disappointed. Now, onto the rest of the week:
Monday the 9th I did go out and about. In the evening I went to the arthouse joint for the Orlando area known as the Enzian to watch a foreign film, the New Zealand horror comedy mockumentary about a house full of vampires known as What We Do in the Shadows. I hadn't been there since last summer where I saw a great movie but it was almost ruined by A-holes in the crowd. Now, the place has to tell it audiences not to be A-holes and yet it happened again, which is very disappointing. Even with those jerks, the movie is still great and I highly recommend it.
Tuesday I didn't do anything but Wednesday, I went to dinner with a parent and a friend who is down here from out of state for a vacation, which happens every year. The place decided upon to visit was the local Texas Roadhouse in town, and that was a nice decision. Thursday, we went out to another restaurant for dinner, and it was a place I had recently been to, Hurricane Grill & Wings.
It was a nice meal there and a hilarious moment happened as I scarfed down some boneless wings. A booth a short distance away was right by the emergency exit, which had a message in big letters right on the door: something to the effect of “Opening this door will sound the alarm”. An older gentleman from the booth got up and went outside. I thought, “Is this dumbass actually going to open the door? How can he not see it's only an emergency exit?” I could have gotten up and tried to run over to stop him or yell at him to stop, but besides maybe not being able to stop him in time... it was indeed pretty hilarious as he actually did open the door and the alarm sounded! I hope that dope learned his lesson.
Friday, I once again went out with those two and they decided upon the Ale House. I was happy to go to that restaurant, although it was packed and judging by the parking lot, filled with tourists, including plenty of people from Canada, a country I'd like to visit again one of these years. The food was good although the waiter looked like a douche and considering I had to remind him that the drinks we ordered were clearly not on our table... I'll have to presume he actually is a douche.
Skipping Saturday, I did not do a thing on Sunday, and I am OK with that. When I return a week from today, I imagine I'll be less controversial. I have some ideas of what I'll be doing, and I doubt my plans will be changing.

Blair Russell, Or (The Expected Ignorance Of Most Floridians)
I haven't seen Birdman myself but I figured it'd be amusing to spoof its title here, and I unfortunately had to deal with ignorant Floridians in the past week... as I always do.
Last Monday, I went to several places. I was at the IKEA in Orlando where I got some miscellaneous items, including a new mat for my bathroom. I then eat at a place I rarely eat at, due to locations and other factors: Zaxby's. I think their food is decent-enough so I was happy to go there for dinner. Their boneless wings weren't as good as the ones you find at like a Buffalo Wild Wings but that's what I expected. I also expected bad traffic, so some A-hole pulling out in front of me in a truck towing a trailer when that Troglodyte could have waited as there was no vehicle behind me... sadly it was not a shock.
Tuesday I didn't do a thing but Wednesday something out of the ordinary happened: I got a new toilet! It's fancy and I am glad to have it. Thursday, I went out with someone I know to a local restaurant: as they had a coupon from Bob Evans that's where we went. I had my almost always of a burger and fries and that was fine. Friday was nothing of note but let me skip ahead to Saturday, where I did something new.
In the past year or so I've griped about major college sports and how corrupt and money-grubbing it is. Well, those divisions below that I am fine with, and I drove down to Kissimmee to watch two games of Division II basketball and it's the tournament of teams in the Sunshine State Conference where I saw the number one team in the country (Florida Southern) play against Lynn then it was Barry against Nova Southeastern. Once you paid your ticket and entered the building it was pretty much YOLO as there was no one around to clarify where you could and couldn't sit, so I had to do a lot of presuming and as I've mentioned in the past, I really don't care for such things.
The first game I sat on the floor right by the court and the second I was in the portable stands but both views were nice in their own ways. Neither game had close finishes but even with the final scores it doesn't mean that the games weren't interesting to watch. As expected Florida Southern won 79-66 and Barry won their game 86-54. The experience ended up fine, although maybe I shouldn't have had that giant hot dog from their concession stand and their chairs weren't that comfortable; even now my back isn't 100%. I realize that makes me sound like a really old man, but it's true!
Sunday, I heard that Florida Southern beat Barry by 10 points. I do find it interesting that these smaller colleges sometimes have colorful mascots for their sports teams. Here it was Moccasins, Sharks, Fighting Knights and Buccaneers, which I am partial to as my old high school was known as the Bucs. The sports fans were what I expected, so too often I did hear them berate the refs and act like they couldn't even tie their own shoelaces, when in actuality they were perfectly fine. People like that are all over and it's not just a Florida issue, but I met some real Rhodes scholars this past week that I won't even delve into my interactions with them. Also on Sunday, the only thing I did was watch Illinois State University play a basketball game on national TV. It was the final game in their conference's tournament and them making it that far was a surprise. In the first half they were doing well against Northern Iowa, then the second half happened and as expected they lost the game.
When I return a week from today... nothing's on the agenda quite yet. My mom will have a friend down here from out of state so at least one time I am sure I'll have dinner with them. Other than that, I don't have a thing planned.

Spock, Ronda Rousey, Llamas & That One Dress
Here's a recap of what I've done in the past week. Monday I didn't do a thing, but Tuesday was a different story. I decided to go to a nearby haunt, the World of Beer. I had some alcoholic beverages there along with my usual of a burger and fries. I had beer from Thailand (now, I've had both Singha and Chang beer; both are fine), one from Germany (as it's part of my heritage and they have many different varieties there) and an American one that's strawberry-flavored, as I was genuinely curious to have such a thing. Yep, it did in fact taste like strawberries. It was a fine time there.
Wednesday I didn't do anything but Thursday, it was quite the day. In the afternoon I was entertained by the story of the two llamas on the loose. It certainly was wacky. In the evening I helped someone out by picking someone else up from airport up in Sanford in the evening. It was a dreary day but I was still happy to help them out. On the way up there I ate at a BurgerFi as it had been awhile since the last visit. It was at the location in Lake Mary. I then got gas and picked up that person and drove them home. There were some reckless drivers I saw... so in other words, it was a typical Florida day!
What a wacky day Thursday was. In the afternoon there was the two llamas on the loose in Arizona and I thought that would be the zaniest moment of the day. Oh no! I was without Internet for a few hours so imagine my shock when I returned home and saw all the uproar on many different sites about “that dress” and what color it actually was. At first it looked white and gold to me but when I saw another picture of how the dress actually looked I couldn't see it as being anything but blue and black. I won't go into the scientific reasons as to why such a thing happened but the buzz one little dress got was incredible to me.
Friday, the matter I alluded to in the last post I did about there being an “issue” at the place I live at... it's now resolved, although to fix the problem it required the joint to smell REALLY bad for a bit and despite it being a cooler day the windows were open to drive out the pungent odor. On a sadder note, I was disappointed to hear that Leonard Nimoy had passed away; as a kid I watched the original show and I've seen all the movies with the original cast more than once.
Saturday, it was an ugly rainy day-and into the evening-but in the evening I did go out to the movie theatre, to see the latest UFC pay per view. It wasn't the strongest card due to the biggest issue UFC faces (well, besides most of their fighters doing performance-enhancing drugs) and that is injuries. I suppose it was fine; the main event with Ronda Rousey was certainly memorable and I'll leave it at that. I went to the AMC at Downtown Disney but I wasn't able to walk around the area due to the weather.
Sunday, I relaxed and I was fine with that. When I return a week from today I do have some activities in mind for the upcoming week, the first one in March.
