Being Chased By Ghost As If I Was Pac-Man

I know, a poetic title but there's reasons for it; I did go to a pinball/arcade convention this past weekend and more than once I was reminded of old enemies from the past who I haven't even really cared about for months. I'll note that this is a pretty lengthy blog, so you've been warned.

Here's what I've done in the past week. Monday was dull so I'll mention something random. Whether it be seeing this outside the house I live in or in the mile or two mile radius of the house I live in, it is easy to see animals. There's all sorts of birds, frogs/toads, lizards, squirrels, I've seen a few rabbits... and yeah, snakes, some of them a few feet long in size. There's also insects, which I could do without. Earlier in the month right at the front entrance of the neighborhood I live in, I had to wait as a mama duck was walking, and behind it was about 5 or 6 baby ducklings. Even though I often complain about the people here, at least it is nice how it isn't too difficult for me to see nature from where I live.

Speaking of complaining about people, Tuesday... I went to Burger King. It was the one not in town but one that is by US Highway 192, as the one in town I believe is still closed due to renovation and there being construction on that part of state Highway 50. The other customers there were trashy but I ignored them the best I could as I had dinner. I then went to the nearby Walmart and what a sight I saw there. We all know the type of people that go there, and that stereotype was proven again. I saw a girl who couldn't have been more than 15 walking around wearing shorts so short that you saw part of her asscheeks! Not appropriate, and to be honest she looked trashy in general. I then saw her parents and well... “white trash” is the perfect term to use to describe them. Never change, Walmart!

Wednesday, totally boring, except for one odd moment. I have no explanation for it but out of nowhere I got a nosebleed, and I don't remember ever having one before. If this happens again then I'll start to get worried and have a “medical professional” look into it. For now, I won't worry about it, although it was strange. At least on this day I had something in common with a certain character from Pacific Rim...

Thursday, I went to the local grocery store to get some items. No wackiness to tell there, thankfully. So, onto Friday... for the second year in a row I went to an event called GameWarp, held in the International Palms Hotel on International Drive in Orlando (not one of my favorite roads, as it's always busy and full of tourists); it's an event where you pay one flat fee and you get to play a plethora of different arcade games and pinball tables, almost all of them old. I was there last July and I had a great time. This time I would go on two different days instead of just one.

Friday it was busier there than expected but at least I got to play a big variety of games. At the end I'll mention all the games there. Some people I know from elsewhere were there and I ended up having dinner with them at a Buffalo Wild Wings as it was only a few minute walk to the joint. A nice time overall it was.

Saturday, things were different. It was jam-packed during the afternoon. That was nice for GameWarp as it makes me more sure there will be future GameWarp weekends but it was a hassle trying to play anything. I went to whatever table was available at the moment, even if it wasn't one of my favorites. I went to dinner on my own, as I needed some time away from GameWarp. I hiked on over to Tilted Kilt, as I hadn't been to one in a long while. In hindsight I should have eaten somewhere closer. The food was good and so was the drink in a small Mason jar (it included Kraken Black spiced rum, Cointreau, pineapple juice, and some other things); the service, not so much. And it wasn't even that crowded there either.

When I got back it was less crowded there, so that was good. It would have been nice if some people would not have been Troglodytes and hogged certain tables. I did not get to play everything I wanted to, although at least I got to most. The people there were for the most part what you'd expect from someone that would attend such an event. I did not look so unusual in comparison! It's a stereotype but in this case it was true. I decided that I was pretty damn tired, was game'd out, and I did not see anyone around that I knew so I took one last look around before leaving. Then I saw...

Unfortunately I saw someone from my past; it was an enemy known as Jared David “Mister” Saint Laurent, a mentally ill individual who is involved with this state's local independent wrestling scene in a variety of ways, including sometimes wrestling in the ring, and not very well. He is a giant Muppet and yet he is a HORRIBLE human being as he's tried to ruin many lives (mine included) and he certainly has ruined this state's wrestling scene. I won't get into the whole deal with me and him as I could probably write something as long as a thesis explaining the whole history through the years. I just explained the basics for anyone who did not read what I wrote here or on my old wrestling Livejournal page.

Anyhow, I saw this individual following me! I ske-dadded out of there pretty quickly, as to be perfectly honest I did not feel comfortable having some mentally unstable person walking towards me, possibly causing who knows what or engaging in some sort of public confrontation. Thankfully he eventually stopped following.Th

In the past I also had issues with Jared David's followers (really, that's what they are), who I started calling The Toadies. They would be a big part of the thesis I'd write about me and Jared David. Just note that they are also awful human beings who are total douches and A-holes and they love trashing just about anyone in this state's wrestling scene... or any innocent person in general. To my amazement, late last week on Twitter one of them actually Tweeted me a few times and wanted me to go to a wrestling show on Saturday so that I could hang out with all of The Toadies, as one of them was celebrating their birthday.

LOL

If you knew the history, you'd realize how ridiculous the proposal is. I never responded back to that fellow. There is no reason at all for me to be pals with any of those tools. They only reason I would ever need to see any of them in person is to spit in their face one by one then leave; that's what they honestly deserve for the deplorable way they treated me AND many people I know throughout the years.

On a lighter note... while Saturday wasn't quite what I expected, GameWarp was still a lot of fun. Getting to play many old tables was a lot of fun and it was nice to see familiar faces, of course. If only I could have said my goodbyes to them. I could write quite a bit about all the games there but besides classic tables like The Twilight Zone and Tales of the Arabian Knights, there were also ones based on 90's properties, like Demolition Man, Independence Day, Starship Troopers, and Terminator 2... and amazingly, The Shadow! Yes, that Alec Baldwin movie. It was a good table, actually. There was also a made in the 90's table based on Dirty Harry, which was nice.

It wouldn't be fair to say which tables were “the best” or the ones I enjoyed the most, as I did not get to play all of them an equal amount. I may be alone but I thought that Earthshaker was a nice one (if only because I did well on it) and the late 80's Banzai Run, where the backglass as a vertical table of its own where if you land on a certain spot you can play it, and it's cool. There were brand new tables of both The Wizard of Oz and Metallica. I never played the wildly popular former; it looked nice as there was a video screen so it was fancy sh*t. The latter was more traditional and it was also popular but I was able to play it. It was really smooth and I managed to do relatively well. It has such things as an electric chair with someone in it and if you hit it enough you get a multiball. Wacky. It plays various songs from the band on random; I got Sad But True.

Billy Mitchell was there. Yes, the bad guy from the King of Kong documentary... or at least the movie made him look like the bad guy. Cynical Blair in 2013 now wonders how truthful everything in that documentary was. But I can say that he still has a great beard and a tremendous head of hair.

Sunday I was exhausted, and I must have pinballed too much, as my wrists and forearms were sore. Insert your own jokes if you want. So I'll bid everyone adieu now in this extra-long edition of one of my blogs. I'll be back next Monday, and the end of July/beginning of August won't be like what I experienced this past week. I know I'll do a few things worthy of discussion but they won't be like going to a gaming convention.

Sam's Club, Tesla Model S, & Soda Shaq

Monday was another dull day for me; I just stayed at home and it rained off and on for much of the day. Tuesday, things got more exciting. A few days beforehand I somehow began thinking about Sam's Club, and I realized that I hadn't been to one since the summer of '03, with my dad. Don't ask how I remember but I do. As you need to pay for a membership, the times I went there in the past it was with my parents. A few years ago I went to BJ's Wholesale, which is another buy in bulk store where you need to pay for a membership, but the parents thought the prices were better at Sam's and BJ's, so the BJ thing (yeah, I still giggle at the name) only lasted for a year. I went to Sam's on this day and it was pretty much how I remembered it. Mainly food items were purchased and it was a nice idea on my part. After that we went to a nearby Logan's Roadhouse, as it has good food, especially the free rolls that they give you while you wait for your order.

Wednesday was dull so let me mention that as of the past month or two I have seen some nice automobiles on the road and parked. That includes some Ferraris and Aston Martin's but the one I need to mention is that for the first time I've seen a Tesla Model S in person. It's a small company that started up in '03 and they put out an electric roadster convertible a few years ago based on a Lotus and I have seen more than one of them on the road, but the Model S was a first for me. Two days ago I was at the local Blockbuster (yes, some of those still exist, believe it or not) and as I was waiting to check out I looked out the windows and I saw driving by a late 80's Alfa Romeo Milano. Those weren't the most common cars even back then and Alfa hasn't mass-sold any vehicles in the U.S for like the past 20 years, although after years of rumors they're supposed to come back soon as part of Chrysler/Fiat. Speaking of Fiat, on the way to Blockbuster in a drive-way I saw for the first time a 500L, which is a bigger 4 door version of that cute vehicle on sale here the past few years. An interesting past few weeks for a dork like me, in other words.

Thursday, that was actually the day of action for me. I had free time so in the afternoon I drove to the Waterford Lakes Town Center open mall, as it's on the east side of Orlando and I rarely make it out there. First, I decided to see Pacific Rim again, this time on their IMAX screen. I've only been to that particular IMAX screen at the Regal Theaters there on one occasion before and that was a few years ago. The movie was still great and it was nice to see it again on another giant screen. I then ate at Qdoba, as I only eat at that quick service Mexican food joint when I am at Waterford Lakes. They make decent food. I then went to Barnes & Noble for a bit and then I ended my time there by going to MovieStop. There are several MovieStop locations around Orlando; it's a great place to find more obscure DVD's and Blu-Rays and also a plethora of used DVD's and Blu-Rays.

As I was driving home I stopped at a 7-11. I got the three flavors of Soda Shaq I hadn't had before. Like with the first one I had, it tastes alright enough but I woudn't say it was good or great. Friday was dull, so Saturday after a nice steak dinner at home I went to Blockbuster to get some films. Speaking of movies, it was quite the shock to me to walk into the room and see that my mom had on Spike TV... where they were showing 2010's Piranha! Besides the fact that I really don't know how you make a coherent edited TV-14 version of that movie, her watching it was something I was not expecting. She did not see all of it but what she saw, she thought “wow” and “oh man”, which is understandable with that movie. I did rent the Blu-Ray of that movie and I showed her the opening, as she loves Jaws and that opening pays homage to that movie in a great way.

Sunday, I went to the nearby Winter Garden Village (a popular hot-spot for me) and I went to the World Market, Barnes & Noble, and Planet Smoothie. From the last place I got the second of their limited edition flavors, the Tropic of Mango, with such things as orange juice and lemonade. It's pretty tasty. I drove home and a few miles away from home it started pouring rain. That was enjoyable. About a minute after I got home, the power went out and it was out for 45 minutes. In hindsight, I should have stayed out longer and even had dinner somewhere else rather than be at home where it's rainy and without A/C the house started to turn into a sweatbox.

Next week... that should be a fun week for me, mainly for the weekend where unless something pops up at the last minute I'll be doing a lot of fun things both Friday and Saturday. The rest of the week may be dull but the weekend should be great.

Pacific Rim, Criterion DVD's/Blu-Rays, & Fanny Packs

Here is what I've done since last Monday. On that day itself, I went to Walmart to get a few items. Oh boy did I see some people there. We all know the stereotype of the people that go there, the People of Walmart and all that. Well, I saw more than one person there who would have been appropriate for the People of Walmart website. They looked like they came from the backwoods of the area, and there are backwoods areas around Clermont, whether they be the woods or the swamps. I do know there are houses way out in the boonies and I'll presume those strange looking and strange dressed people came from the boonies.

Tuesday, I went to the nearest Barnes & Noble, as this month is one of the two months of the year where they offer the high-brow Criterion DVD's and Blu-Rays 50% off, and yes I did make a purchase there. I then went back home and I stopped by the local Publix, which is THE grocery store of Florida if you don't live here or didn't notice it when you visited the state. I got some items from there.

Thursday, me and someone I know went to Steak & Shake as we hadn't been there in awhile. I tried their chicken fingers for the first time and it tastes fine. I had their new Tropical Banana milkshake and that was good. Friday was dull so let me skip ahead to Saturday, the day of action. There was a short amount of time where I wasn't sure if I would be doing anything during the weekend as originally there was going to be a tropical storm that possibly would be in the area; the storm fell apart and ended up becoming nothing. There was some rainy weather Friday through Sunday, but that was about it.

Saturday was a day, for sure. In the late afternoon I left to go to Downtown Disney. It was rainy on the way there and I got a little wet but thankfully it stopped once I left Splitsville, where I had something different there; it was a turkey club and it was good. After that I walked next door to the AMC Theatres to see my first film in awhile; I watched Pacific Rim, as it looked awesome and I heard it was a lot of fun. Turns out, it was a lot of fun and was awesome. It's simply an entertaining flick that isn't dour and sour like you seemingly get a lot these days with summer blockbusters. The world simply looked awesome and it was populated with colorful characters and was interesting; oh yeah, and the battles between giant mechs and giant kaiju monsters like the type that Godzilla fought in many films... tremendous. I give it my highest recommendation. Of course, it underperformed at the box office and even Grown Ups 2 did better, which is depressing as that looks awful and I understand it is awful.

After that, I made the drive to Ghost Bar & Lounge to have a good time, and that is what I did. I went and parked the vehicle, and the parking lot I usually use is outdoors but it's cheap and it's right by the former Club Paris nightclub and is now a banquet hall sort of place. At the time they were having a wedding reception and I got to see some old guy be helped out of there due to him being obviously hammered. Thankfully someone was driving him home. About 2 minutes later I see some ladies having a group picture taken of them... only I looked at their faces and well, they were obviously trannies! Then, I saw various people dressed in the loudest most stereotypical 80's clothing. I do not know which club or clubs were doing this, but somewhere it was 80's night and I was amused to see such outfits.

I arrived at the bar & lounge and it wasn't the wackiest time there for me but it was still a good time there. I got to drink some alcohol, watched some TV, listened to the acoustic covers of various songs (including rap, which is always amusing) then the DJ spinning tunes, and my personal favorite, drunk white people attempting to dance. There was even for a brief amount of time where there was a dance circle and you had a bunch of white people attempting to dance one after another; I found that greatly amusing. Some of the 80's people came in. There was a dude and the way he looked was great; besides him being a chubby guy with a beard, he had on short shorts, bright socks, sneakers, a pink tank top, a headband... and a fanny pack. Tremendous.

A pair of 80's girls came in and it was not made clear if this was for my benefit or not, but not that far from where I was sitting they danced with each other; for my sake I'll say that they were dancing for me! That was a treat. Besides that, not too many interesting tales to tell. I was able to see via the TV's the ending of a baseball pitcher throwing a no-hitter and... the result of the George Zimmerman trial. I don't have too much to say about that whole deal, aside from the fact that the Central Florida media was just as insufferable covering it as they were two summers ago when they covered the trial of that horrible child-killing woman. I do feel bad that a young man was killed and from all appearances it never should have happened... but I am glad that chaos did not break out around Orlando once the verdict was announced.

Sunday I stayed at home and relaxed so I'll end this by saying I'll be back a week from today (as almost always) and I do have a few things in mind for what I'll be doing the next 7 days.

Australian Rules Football, Golden Corral White Trash, & Living in America

I don't have much else to say about the past week I have except that James Brown's song from Rocky IV is pretty great and that a certain UFC fighter should have used that tune as his entrance music for this past Saturday's fight. I'll ignore that James seemingly treated women like crap and had an obvious drug problem and for this instance I'll remember him appearing in Rocky IV as he played that song for Apollo Creed when he fought Ivan Drago in Las Vegas.

Now, let me talk about the past week in chronological order, as I typically do. Monday was the birthday of a parent. They decided to go to Golden Corral, and I went along. The food was about as good as you'd expect for that place. I got some laughs out of seeing my fellow customers. Some of them were old people but others were white trash. A guy there had to be between 400 and 500 pounds! His lady had to be around 3 bills too. Then there was a middle-aged guy who had a mullet and a hat that said “bomb squad”. To steal a line, he looked more like someone that makes bombs rather than diffuses them.

Tuesday, I had free time so for the first time in awhile, I decided to go to Splitsville at Downtown Disney. There isn't too much to say that I haven't said about the place before. I sat downstairs at the bar and I watched sports on TV and listened to the music that was spun by the DJ. I had my almost always of a burger and fries. Both were good. To drink I had something new, which was them combining their four frozen drinks into one concoction. Wacky, but it was good.

Wednesday, I went to Gamestop and then the nearby Target. I got a card for more Microsoft Points and I got some random items from Target. Thursday I was lame and did not go out anywhere to see any fireworks. As I've said a few times in the past, seeing fireworks on the 4th isn't the same anymore, as I used to do it with my family every year... we'd always go to a nearby town to watch them. The fact that it was rainy weather made the decision easy and I just stayed in and watched fireworks on TV.

Friday were pretty boring, except that on Friday night on Netflix Instant, I decided to watch the G-rated movie meant for toddlers known as The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure (I referenced the movie when it came out last August and I even had a blog title based on it) as it was there and also, YOLO. Turns out, the movie is pretty terrible. I know it's meant for real young kids but I wouldn't want my 6 ½ month old twin nephews ever watch it. The story sucks and so do the songs. There's some goofy things in there but it's not worth seeing unless you are drunk and/or high on drugs. Onto Saturday...

Saturday, I went to the local Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the UFC pay per view. My time there wasn't eventful except for the short amount of time when a large group of drunken people came by and at first they were drunken buffoons but then they weren't so loud and I did not mind them. I consumed some food and alcohol as I watched a show that turned to be pretty damn good, and a main event that turned out to be pretty damn memorable. I had no idea what to expect from the show so I am glad it was a success.

Sunday, I was pretty damn tired so I did not do much at all. I did watch something in full for the first time: a match of Australian Rules Football. I've seen clips of it in the past but never watched it from beginning to end. I decided to do so just on a whim and they sometimes show it on a Fox Soccer channel (along with things like rugby) to fill time. If you aren't familiar with it (and I had to read about it on Wikipedia to know the basic gist of the rules), it's like rugby crossed with soccer, with some Aussie wackiness mixed in. It's different, but pretty cool. I do know that you must be in great shape and at least a bit of a loon to play the sport; the field is massive and you wear no pads and yet hard hits happen a lot and I even saw a fight in the match. The umpire's outfit of a bright blue shirt and either grey slacks or grey shorts and bright blue knee high socks... amusing. Wackiness from Australia, a place I'd love to visit one of these years as there seem to be many pretty sights to see and there are many unusual things there, from the animals to the places to anything else.

I'll be back a week from today. I'll think of some activities to do that I can write about.

Sprecher's Sodas, Fruity Smoothies, & The Lava Lounge

Yeah, I can't believe the year is half-over already. It wasn't quite what I was expecting it to be, but that is alright with me. At least the only real low was the whole toothache thing that led to a root canal but that could have been worse, for sure; and, there's been some highs that I've enjoyed. Anyhow, this past Monday I did not do anything of note so let me skip ahead to Tuesday. I ended up having free time so I decided to return to Winter Park as it may be awhile before I swing back in that area, so why not eat again at BurgerFi and then get more sodas at Rocket Fizz?

This time I got a burger and fries and a concrete custard shake, and all were tasty; the latter was chocolate-based, so yeah I dug that. I won't list what I got at Rocket Fizz, but it was a smaller haul than the first time I was there. I got a can of Popeye energy drink, which seems like an appropriate tie-in; the flavor wasn't spinach but rather “Bruiser Blackberry”. I also got some more flavors of Sprecher's Soda. I now have a decent number of those. I first heard of it a few years ago when the person who repainted the house was also from the midwest and he mentioned how he dug Sprecher's Root Beer so when my dad was up in Wisconsin he got some of that, as that's where they are based, in a Milwaukee suburb. They also make beer but all their sodas contain “raw Wisconsin honey”, which sounded grand to me, and it turns out, it is grand. I got their strawberry soda from their cold fridge and it was excellent. The next day I had their cherry cola (c-o-l-a, cola) and it was also excellent. I give my highest recommendations to those chaps.

Wednesday was nothing-happening so let me skip ahead to Thursday, where I went somewhere with someone for dinner and it wasn't until the night before that we decided to go there. I found out via Twitter that there's a new addition to the Rainforest Cafe (which I like but the food is on the pricey side) known as the Lava Lounge, which isn't a 70's themed place but rather an open air place with a roof where there are some TV's, a small bar, and several tables. It was nice but the highlight is that right by the restaurant is a volcano that “erupts” with smoke and fire, which is cheesy but cool. The food is the same as the restaurant with some extra items. I had the “almost always” of a burger and fries but it was good, but man the price is pricey. One of these days I'll return to sample at least one of their alcoholic beverages.

As I don't have much else to say concerning the rest of the week, I figure I shoud mention some of the wacky spam e-mail I've received in recent months... or rather, the titles of those spam e-mails. These don't even include the really lewd ones.

Saturday, I did go out in the evening but it wasn't a loud wacky event. Instead I just went to the nearby open-air mall and I went to Barnes & Noble for a bit then I walked on over to Planet Smoothie as they have some new limited edition flavors and I got The Islander, which is strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, and orange sherbet. It was good. I also illegally streamed an MMA pay per view; I know, I know... and in this case it was a pay per view from a no-name company who was having their first show with a lineup that is at best appropriate for an Internet pay per view instead of an actual pay per view. The show was as bad as I expected and those jamokes won't be having another show, I am almost positive of that fact. At least it was fun to laugh at...

Sunday, I did not do a damn thing, so let me bid everyone adieu and I'll be back a week from today. I know that tonight I'll be going to Golden Corral with some people (the restaurant wasn't my choice) and on Saturday will be an actual MMA pay per view from the UFC that I'll be seeing. I have no idea if I'll be doing anything on the 4th, but in any case I hope to have a halfway decent blog.
