I decided to borrow a phrase I heard from a videogame podcast I started listening to about 2 or so months ago. On that show, “going down the rabbit hole” (and yes, I know where that phrase originated from) refers to the idea of starting to play a videogame that will be a huge investment of time, like an RPG which will take something like 80 plus hours! In this case it is the duel threat of Tumblr and Spotify that has caused me to go deep in the hole. I won't give away what my Tumblr name is but I follow some random accounts there and usually it's either pretty girls or blogs where pretty girls get posted. No, it's not a pervert sort of thing where I look at X-rated photos on there! Then, with Spotify, I'm still able to stream everythin on that music-sharing site for free, and I hear they have an estimated 15 million songs (!) on there. Now I've gotten to the point of creating my own playlists, and searching for songs for that task eats up more time than you can imagine. Also, there are various websites where you can share your playlists and overall Spotify is pretty damn awesome.
Anyhow, let me recap the previous week. Monday I went with someone with dinner to the local Steak & Shake in town. The main reason for going there was that the both of us had coupons to use via the previous day's newspaper. It was tasty food and their Orange Freeze milkshake is pretty fantastic.
Tuesday was dull so I'll skip ahead to Wednesday. I hadn't been outside of a small radius around Clermont for awhile so I figured I would change that by going to Downtown Disney to walk around there a bit-it's mostly the same old same old there-and also to see a movie, Red Tails. The movie had a script and dialogue that seemed to be from a movie made in 1944, but as entertainment it was fine. By the way, I still laugh that one of the TV ads for the movie has the soundtrack of a dubstep song.
Thursday was dull so I'll skip ahead to Friday. In the evening I had free time so I decided to go to the Sand Lake Road area for the first time in awhile. As I don't believe I've eaten at an Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza before I decided to try that out. That place has some pretty good food, so I am sure I'll be back there sooner or later. It isn't the cheapest place but I did have food to bring home to eat Saturday for lunch; while I was there they played a great variety of older songs on their sound system. I mean, it was almost all songs that I dug so that was a big win. I even heard the songs of Tequila. No, I did not-nor did anyone else-bust out some fancy shoes and then dance on top of the bar, breaking glasses along the way! After that I went to Pinkberry, as I hadn't been there for what seemed like weeks. They brought back their blood orange flavor so it was a must for me to have that again, and it was great.
The weekend, it was more interesting than expected. I didn't go out Saturday; instead I stayed in to watch the UFC prelims and then the final three matches of that show on FOX. The prelims were fine-enough. The fights on FOX were disappointing, but I thought there was more excitement staying at home rather than going out to see anything like a wrestling show. It turns out, there was a show in Orlando that I didn't attend as the guy who ran the show, I had serious problems with before; well, the show was more interesting than expected, with one guy I know suffering an injured ankle (for real) and my buddy Jared David St. Laurent got punked out by a ring announcer!
Now, EVERYTHING involving that guy I presume to be fake and staged due to his severe mental illness and the bizarre fact that people work with him on fake situations that are supposed to be real; it happens all the time! I really hope that isn't the case this time, as I don't quite see how a feud between a fat f*** who can barely wrestle and a chubby ring announcer with zero wrestling experience is supposed to do anything positive. Then again, stupider things have been attempted, as absolutely stupid as it sounds to all you guys outside of the Florida independent wrestling world who are reading this and are looking at it in a logical manner... but at least for now I'll go under the assumption that it's legit and I'll laugh and laugh.
Oh, and if you want to view the video and the profane but hilarious yelling, go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZnXvBxonFc
Onto things more sane, Sunday I had more free time so I decided to do something for the first time and that was go walk on the James A. Van Fleet State Trail... or at least a small part of it. It is a paved deal which goes through some real remote but scenic areas of Lake and Polk Counties. From the area I walked it was indeed scenic. I passed by a farm that had cattle roaming about, and there were buzzards flying about. As it was a cool day, it was nice to walk about. I did see quite the odd site right after I left there and went back home: in the middle of the road there was some people walking with a dog... and a Shetland pony! No kidding. That's not something you see everyday, that is for darn sure.
I'll be back a week from today; I know for certain that while today through Thursday may be dull, Friday through Sunday will be very eventful. There's getting to see a UFC pay per view in a theatre... in 3D, the Super Bowl the next evening, and I hope to do something fun on Friday night that I haven't done in far too long.

Racist Dogs, Blowfly, & Protein Blasts
So, things were different from usual for me when it comes to the preceding week. Still, I do have some intriguing things to talk about.
Here is a recap which has some more interesting aspects to it than what I usually do these days. Monday was dull so let me skip ahead to Tuesday. The highlight was me getting my hair cut, as I needed one. There was more people there than usual, meaning there was more than one other customer in there. At least the place at their new location they moved to last year seemed to be doing better than I thought they were, which is good. And, while I was there on this day I heard one half of what had to be quite the conversation. One of the women working there had to talk on her cell phone as there was an incident with her dog briefly fighting with another dog, and apparently it was a crisis. Anyhow, she mentioned quite the observation, which was that because her dog only gets mad at other dogs that are white in color, that her pooch must be racist! That's a very close paraphrase of what she said. And I can't possibly add on anything else to that.
As an aside, it was on Tuesday that I found out funk/soul singer Jimmy Castor passed away. Aside from having some songs that you'd probably recognize from them being sampled in more modern tunes, he had some novelty-type tunes, such as Troglodyte (Cave Man), which is indeed where I got the idea to use the term Troglodyte.
Wednesday, in the evening I went to the local Macaroni Grill with my parents and a family friend, who is visiting Florida from Illinois. That's a place I hadn't been to all that often in the past. It turns out, their margherita pizza tasted fine and I was more than happy to wolf it down. Besides, they had several different flavored lemonades and the blood orange variety I enjoyed. After that, as I went there solo, I was able to walk around Winter Garden Village for a bit and as I did have a coupon from Planet Smoothie which was burning a hole in my pocket. I had a concoction known as the Chocolate Chimp which involved chocolate, banana, vanilla, and honey. It may sound like an odd combo but it works. Oh, and something else added to it was an ingredient known as “protein blast”. Way too many inappropriate comments can be made here, so I better move on...
Thursday, I wasn't feeling the best. Between hearing late the night before that the people in charge are actually planning on The Expendables 2 to be PG-13 (yes, that of all films with a bunch of old stars who are most famous for their R-rated movies, to appear in a PG-13 sequel to a great R-rated film), having a dream where somone I know personally died-I'll never mention it on here or even tell them personally I thought of them in that way, as that's just horrifying-and then finding out that the government shut down the great file upload service Megaupload... what a poor day it turned out to be. In fact, the highlight there was going to Burger King for the first time in awhile. At the location in town, they have new video board menus, which look pretty snazzy. I also tried their new fries, which are better than the overly greasy ones they used to make for years, but they're still no McDonalds fries. At least their Whoppers are still tasty.
By the way, another person who passed away around this time was Johnny Otis, a musician/producer/talent scout/etc. His most famous song is Willy & The Hand Jive; you may have heard that or Eric Clapton's cover of it. Anyhow, I read on his Wikipedia page that in '69, Otis released an album of vulgar songs under the band name of-and this is no lie-Snatch & The Poontangs! It's true. You can listen to some of those songs on YouTube and believe it or not that album is on Spotify if you have that service. Musically it's fine; it just happens to have quite a bit of cursing. It does prove that Blowfly wasn't the first guy to release vulgar albums; yes, you can find quite a few albums from Blowfly on Spotify too. I'll have to dig into that sometime later.
In a break from the usual, it was the weekend where I was boring. Friday night it was possible that I'd go out for dinner with the parents and the family friend, but it didn't happen. Instead I got some food at KFC, a place I don't go to often enough. By the way, that family friend was around from Wednesday to Friday. He had a good time here. I bet he preferred being in Florida rather than his place in the northern part of Illinois, which got some terrible snowy weather during that time period. I'd mention what the temperatures were in Florida the same time the blizzard was taking place, but I don't want to piss off anyone I know who lives up there, so I better keep quiet about that.
The weekend I was incredibly boring. I was going to go out on Saturday night and see a movie on the big screen, but before dinner my stomach was upset so I figured I should stay in and watch TV instead. Of course, after dinner I felt better... still, it was a good idea for me to not go out and about. Yesterday, I also stayed in; I watched some pro football and that was a good time... despite the fact I would have preferred different winners for both games.
The upcoming week... as usual not a lot is planned. With any luck I'll have enough activities to discuss by this time next Monday.

The Blog Where I Suggest That Most Modern Music Is Diarrhea-Awful
Alright, so here's what I've done since the last blog. Monday night, I watched the big college football game, the last one of the season, the one for all the marbles. It was actually a rematch of a game played a few months ago, and that battle was pretty poor. It was low-scoring and it was more due to terrible offenses than great defenses. The rematch ended up being even worse! At least the first game was competitive; the second one wasn't even that. One team's offense was disgracefully bad. The way I got entertainment from it was not from consuming alcohol (in hindsight I wish I would have) but rather watching the game on mute, laughing at random people on Twitter bashing the battle on the gridiron, and listening to random songs on Spotify. That was good fun.
Tuesday night, I was at the closest Best Buy and I finally spent some Christmas cash and used the Best Buy gift card I got on a portable Blu-Ray player. The portable DVD player I had (which I got from a relative as they didn't need it any longer; it was pretty old) crapped out so I figured I would get modern and get that device. It'll make it easier for me to watch Blu-Rays, that's for damn sure.
Wednesday through Friday were dull, so let me skip ahead to the weekend. Saturday I went to the east side of Chicago... er, I mean Orlando (if you know which song I just referenced there, kudos to you) to go to a MovieStop I've been at more than once before. They have quite the variety of old DVD's and Blu-Rays there, along with some new stuff too. I turned in some old DVD's and while I didn't get as much as I thought I would I still am glad I got rid of them. After that I went to Friendly Confines in Winter Park in order to watch the big game between the Denver Tebows and the New England Patriots, which was a rematch from earlier in the season. Going on at the same time was the prelims and then the pay per view for the latest UFC event. Now you can watch just about all of the fights for a UFC show on TV, unless it's a FuelTV show.
Sure, I could have gone to a wrestling show and then watch UFC in the area, but a few things in the local scene as of late have turned me off; of course, they all involve that 10 pound pile of monkey crap in a 5 pound bag known as Jared David St. Laurent. I'll just mention one thing: if you say you're mad at someone to the point that you want to “legit” fight them, why are you pals with them on Facebook? That just sounds a little odd to me.
Anyhow, the UFC pay per view-while guaranteed to do a horrible buyrate for several reasons, including the fact that it was held in Rio-was pretty great. Many exciting fights and most of them ending decisively, it's a show worth seeing if you're an MMA fan. Plus, it's a typical rowdy Brazilian crowd and I'm catching up on watching all the fights again online or on tape (yeah yeah, I know) just to listen to the audience going crazy for everything. As for the game, it proved to be a total mismatch this time; the Broncos weren't ready for prime time and got squashed 45-10. Speaking of not ready for prime time...
I think it was sometime on Friday I heard of some singer lady named Lana Del Rey. It was appropriate as she appeared on Saturday Night Live (a dead dinosaur of a show that's been the drizzling shits for many years now, I say) and when I logged onto Twitter late Saturday night I saw many people bitching about her bad performance on the show. So, I actually watched one of the songs she performed and yeah, she's not the lady that'll get me interested in modern music, that's for sure. To be honest, modern music has usually bored me and I've preferred the older stuff. Even now I can find songs and artists from back in the day and I can be greatly entertained by exploring their back catalogue. About 5 years ago or so I completely given up on Top 40 manufactured BS, so at least I've been lucky in missing out on hearing all but snippets from such “great” singers as the Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna, and Katy Perry. Christ, those songs are terrible! And I'm just basing that on said snippets I've heard. I just might pour hot wax into my ears if I had to hear all 4 minutes plus of such “classics” as Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) or heaven forbid, any tune from Ke$ha. At least the artists of yesteryear had actual GOOD singing voices... and to think that one artist who has some songs that I can tolerate listening to is Lady Gaga, and she has such a repugnant persona that I feel awful for even liking some of her songs!
Oh wait, what was I saying... oh yeah, much modern music today (aside from dance stuff) is pretty poor and it seems like many people can't even sing these days without electronic aids and when they have to sing live without said aids (such as Taylor Swift or that lead girl from Florence & The Machine) it's an epic fail, and Lana Del Rey is just another one of those manufactured persons who I'll be happy to ignore in the future. And yes I've seen one of her music videos with her studio voice, and I still don't care for her. No offense to anyone I know who likes her songs.
But back to Saturday night... it was a good time there, consuming some alcoholic beverages and watching both sporting events. In fact, on Sunday I returned there to watch the Giants play the Packers. I expected Green Bay to win as from watching them play this season I thought they were the best team. However, for whatever reasons the Packers played really poorly, making a whole slew of mistakes and New York just played a lot better, and that's how they pulled off the upset. As a Bears fans, I wasn't too sad to see Green Bay lose. As expected, there were some knuckleheads there watching the game, but I tried to ignore them. If only I didn't have to sit close by a couple who not only would talk about inanity almost non-stop, but when they weren't flapping their gums they were engaging in some PDA. I could have done without that. Get a room, I say! I don't know when I'll be back on the east side of Orlando. It may be some time. At least it will help in me dealing with less idiotic traffic, which I experienced several times during the weekend.
I'll be back next Monday. Not too much is planned, although I do know that I'll be going out at least one night for dinner with a friend of the family so that'll provide me something to write about, if nothing else.

The Blog Where I Wonder About The Mystery of Salomon Kabbash
To show you how unexciting much of this week was, I had to title this blog after a spam e-mail I got! It was from a few days ago and it said, “Re: Salomon Kabbash”. I actually opened it and it was pretty much gibberish leading to a link which I knew well enough not to click. In the past I've mentioned a few times some of the strange spam names I got; this is just another one of those.
Up to yesterday there isn't too much to say. One night I ate at a local Chipotle and another night I was at a Wal-Mart to pick up a few items and as I was checking out a teen girl and her mom were loudly arguing with each other over some such nonsense. Other than that the only other noteworthy thing is that for a few nights it was pretty chilly. I didn't have much issue with it as hey, I dealt with much worse back in my Illinois days. I'll always laugh when people in this area of Florida freak out over the temperature dipping to the mid 30's or below a few nights a year; it happened once again. Sure, it getting as low as 25 or so is not that common, but it's still pretty laughable.
In fact, I'll cut the crap and I'll get right to Sunday, where I did something different. I'll spare the details of how I arrived at this decision but with my schedule I figured it would be best if I went to Lakeland where I would spend time at an establishment watching much of the game between the Broncos and the Steelers and then I'd go to the drive-in joint in Lakeland (yes, drive-ins are still around) to see a natural double-header. It's a place I've been to a few times before but the last time was months ago.
In the afternoon I made the drive down to Lakeland and I saw a good amount of the big football game at... Hooters! I had been to that particular restaurant long ago and it's been too many weeks since I've been to any Hooters restuarants. I like going there... for the food! While I was there I enjoyed all the treats... on the menu. Needless to say some attractive young ladies worked there and that's something I'll never complain about. As expected there were some meatheads there who were fans of both the Steelers and Broncos (or rather, fans of Tebow) and that made for an interesting atmosphere; if only those meatheads would have been farther away from me.
As for the game, I'll note that for the past few weeks TEBOWAMANIA had died down as he and Denver did not play too well. Still, they backdoored their way into the playoffs and played against Pittsburgh. Before (especially in that blog where I talked abut the Tebows playing against the Chicago Bears; how that game turned out still stings, I'll admit) I talked about how a few times this season Denver made the comeback to win in the same way that Hulk Hogan came back by Hulking up before winning his matches. This time the Broncos played shockingly well early and got a good lead on Pittsburgh. By the time I left (I tried to stay there as long as I could) it was the 4th quarter and Denver was still winning. I didn't think that the Steelers would come back to tie it up so I felt fine leaving at that point as I wouldn't miss much.
Well, I done goofed!
Pittsburgh did tie it up and the game went into overtime. Let's just say it didn't take long before Tebow did a big boot and then dropped a legdrop on the Steelers as he did a huge play and I can only imagine the choas that broke out in sports bar all across Florida as that play happened. TEBOWAMANIA has started again and this upcoming Saturday night they'll get a rematch against the New England Patriots. Suddenly, my plans for the night are up in the air. There are several different things I could do and attend on that night; it probably will be late in the process before I am certain what I'll be doing.
Before I get into the drive-in stuff, I have to mention one amazing human being that I saw at Hooters. This guy actually exists, as amazing as it is to me. That guy was a typical middle-aged redneck type. Those people are a dime a dozen in this part of Florida. Except... this guy may or may not have been wearing eyeliner. And, he was such a fan of Prince that he not only wore a t-shirt with his visage on it, but his necklace was the symbol that Prince used during his bizarre Artist... days. Yes, this guy exists! I have no problem with his musical preferences; Prince has some great songs. It's just that I can't imagine there are too many white trash fans of that tiny singer around.
Anyhow, at the drive-in I saw the double-feature of The Devil Inside and Paranormal Activity 3. I paid the usual 4 bucks for both movies (yes, that's right) as after the toxic reviews the first movie has gotten, paying full price at a cineplex seemed like a bad idea. This proved to be a good idea. That movie was crap! It's a horror movie found footage thing that just isn't scary or terrifying at all. It's just a dull bore, and as many have noted already, the ending is a giant middle finger; the film just stops rather than ends. I'll talk about the movie on my movie blog (that review will be up late tonight) but the film isn't worth seeing in any format, even after it's on DVD. I stuck around to watch PA3 and that was so much better as a found footage horror flick. It washed the bad taste out of my mouth.
I am glad I managed to have enough to write about in this blog. The next one I do and post a week from today will be more interesting, I promise.

Fireworks, Goodyear Blimps, & Red Solo Cups
My apologies for this being posted a few hours late. It's just that I was preoccupied with-among other things-watching the college football games today.
That's right, the first blog of 2012 will have me explain a reference to a country song from last year. Awhile back I heard that Toby Keith had a song out called Red Solo Cup, referencing the plastic cups that you use during house parties (yeah, I've drank who knows how many gallons of alcohol from plastic cups during my college days alone). Saturday I finally heard the song and saw the uncensored video online (which features things such as someone using a cup as a bowl to smoke pot!) and wow. If Toby was serious with that talking-singing song, then that doesn't dispel any of the stereotypes concerning modern country music. At least the song makes me laugh, even if I'm laughing at it.
Anyhow, here's how I spent the end of 2011. Monday was dull so Tuesday I went out and about for a bit. That was stressful and didn't go quite as planned. Plus, I had to be around crowds of people and I'm not always a fan of that. I'll rather not go into the shitty parts of the day and instead get to the one interesting thing, which is that someone I know wanted me to get them a wireless router and a cheap laptop, so that's what I did at Wal-Mart. I know, but they were the only place that still had laptops available which met their demands. I got them an Acer and I got both set up for them. The router was easy to set up and so was the laptop, although the latter took time as you have to do Windows updates and that seems to take forever and a day, and then I have to download and install some things that they need, like anti-virus programs and what have you. At least the day ended in a not so awful manner.
Wednesday was nothing-happening and Thursday I was out and about for a bit and still I haven't used any of my giftcards nor Christmas cash quite yet. There's an item or two I have my eye on and yet I haven't found it in the exact form I want so thus I haven't pulled the trigger quite yet. However, at Target I did find for 10 dollars a bitchin' shirt that had an old Shelby logo on it. You know, the car modifier that did and does special versions of Mustangs. The logo has a big cobra on it and it just looks cool.
That is the shirt I wore Friday night when I went to see the latest UFC pay per view. I went to Buffalo Wild Wings, as usual. This time, it was jam-packed with people there. Given that Brock Lesnar was making his return to the cage after an absence of over a year, I figured it'd be busy but man alive was it slammed with people. The show was about what I expected; however, the guys who won the two main fights I wasn't happy about as I did not want either to win. The guy who kicked Brock Lesnar's ass, Alistair Overeem, he pretty much was successful in skirting a drug test by playing dumb, and I think that's a load of crap, given there's been understandable rumors in the past about him roiding up. And now he's likely going to fight Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos later in '12. That puts a bee in my bonnet, even though I think JDS will kick his ass.
So while there were some moments of the show I really did enjoy, my dominant memories won't be good ones. Oh, there was the strange thing of during the main event when Overeem walked to cageside, someone set off fireworks in the grass area behind the parking lot! No kidding. That lasted for about a minute.
As I got my drink on while at Buffalo Wild Wings (I had some Pabst Blue Ribbon as hey, it was cheap) on the 30th, I decided to stay at home and not even drink during New Years Eve. The only intriguing thing I did was at night when I drove around the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights; that's something I've done for the past few years now.
Yesterday, I went to good old Friendly Confines to watch the last Chicago Bears game of the season, against the lowly Minnesota Vikings. Maybe I shouldn't say they're awful given that the Bears only defeated them by a few points and it was competitive the entire time. There weren't too many Chicago fans around and it wasn't as busy there in general as it usually is on an NFL Sunday. But at least the team won for the first time in ages so that made me happy as I walked out of there. Of course I was also happy to walk out of there as it meant not having to deal with some loudmouths and even some loud young boys who acted like typical young boys and THUS. SHOUTED. ALL. THE. TIME. That's one good reason right there for me never to procreate. Kids just aren't my thing in general, as bad as that may sound to some.
On the way back, I passed by the Orlando Executive Airport and what did I see on the ground but the Goodyear Blimp. That's not something you see every day. It's here as today there was a big college football game in Orlando.
Today, I just stayed at home and relaxed. My next blog should be up at its more usual time on Monday the 9th. Not a lot is on the agenda for the upcoming week. I'll be experiencing some cold weather, I do know that. But I shouldn't be one of those whiners about the conditions in Florida. As always, I'll randomly get into some moderately interesting tasks to provide me material to write about.
